EASTERN PLAINS TROPHY DEER HUNTS

We have been fortunate to acquire over 60,000 acres of prime deer country on the eastern plains of Colorado. These private land hunts in GMU # 105 and 106 will allow us to offer trophy deer hunts on the eastern plains for rifle, archery and muzzleloader hunters. These areas have historically proven to be among the best in Colorado for producing trophy mule deer and whitetail deer. The eastern plains hunts are our most popular for trophy deer and subsequently book up well in advance. Housing on these ranches is very comfortable with hot showers, electricity, satellite television and some terrific home cooked meals.

We will manage these leases for both trophy class animals and a quality hunting experience. Historically these ranches have produced 100 % opportunity on mule deer in the 170-190 class and whitetails grossing around 150. All deer licenses/tags are issued on a draw basis requiring 0-1 preference points for archery, muzzleloader and 1st rifle, therefore providing a good opportunity to draw your licenses. The late season rut hunts require 3-4 preference points. We do have a limited number of landowner vouchers available for all of our hunts. We do submit all draw applications for our clients to ensure that the best opportunity is provided for them.

Our ranches provide some of the best habitat for growing trophy deer. Our ranches consist mostly of cottonwood creek/river bottoms, rim-rock ridges, ponderosa pines and some prairie country. Our archery hunters can enjoy the luxury of sitting in tree-stands and ground blinds that are placed in strategic locations and bottlenecks throughout our ranches. If you are not one to sit still long, we can always try our luck at spot and stalk hunting during the day. Just remember, the idea here is to keep our trophy deer in the area. Most of our rifle hunts are spot and stalk, although we may do some stand hunting if conditions are right.

Hunting Tactics... We only offer elk, deer, and bear combination rifle hunts on this ranch. We hunt muzzleloader and 4 rifle seasons and allow only 16 - 18 hunters per year. Tactics used during rifle seasons consist of cow talk, bugling, spot and stalking, and stand hunting. These tactics will vary depending on the temperature, elk movement and amount of snowfall. This limited amount of hunting pressure and harvest, along proper wildlife management techniques, will allow you excellent harvest opportunities on trophy bull elk and/or deer.

The Ranch offers ideal habitat for all species. The habitat ranges from large lush green meadows, nice long valleys with over 15 ponds, big stands of aspens, and many large patches of dark timber. The elevation on the ranch ranges from 8,400 to about 10,800 feet. Transportation used during your hunt consists of 4-wheel drive trucks to get you to and from the specific hunting areas.

The weather in the Rocky Mountains may change very quickly. Hunters should come prepared for both warm and cold weather. In general, September temperatures are mild and comfortable with little chance of snow.

On the other hand, October temperatures average around 40 degrees during the day and November temperatures around 20 degrees. Snow is probable in both October and November.

MOUNTAIN LION HUNTS

We offer mountain lion hunts throughout various areas of Colorado. Hunts are conducted on both private and public lands. The thrill of following our hounds through the rugged terrain can be very exciting and demanding; therefore, good physical condition and determination is highly recommended to make your hunt more enjoyable. We primarily use 4x4 trucks and Polaris Rangers with track systems to search the mountain roads and valleys for fresh tracks. We will also hunt off horseback when conditions allow. Once we cut fresh tracks, the hounds are released and the hunt is on.

This is an ideal hunt with handguns, archery or rifle. The cost of meals and lodging will be the responsibility of the hunter unless otherwise arranged. We can make reservations for you at the local hotel in the area we will be hunting. We recommend a minimum of five hunting days, but your hunt may be extended if necessary. Remember, our goal is to send you home with some unforgettable memories and a good mountain lion. Licenses are available over-the-counter and can be purchased upon your arrival. The season for pursuing these elusive cats of the forest runs from mid-November through March 31st
