Our camp hands do all those chores you don't want to do, or have to do...and these characters will work to keep you in good spirits and laughter at the same time. Our cooks provide a variety of hearty home cooked meals.

We are a family run business that believes in providing quality services to all of our visitors. We have been operating since 1967 in the Troublesome Basin, one of the premier Colorado elk hunting spots. We do our actual hunting in a road less section of Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest that you can only travel through on foot or on horseback. This means that much of our hunting is done on horseback so that you can savor this experience. If you like getting back to hunting in its most natural state then we can give you much of this feeling with our archery elk hunting Colorado.

The area where we conduct our deer and elk hunting is designated by GMU018 on your Colorado Big Game Map. It is a roadless part of the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest near the famous big elk refuge of Rocky Mountain National Park. Travel is on foot or horseback. The majority of our hunts are off of horses. There are no motorized vehicles allowed in the Troublesome Basin, a primitive area. Our camps are a wilderness experience. The Troublesome Basin consists of 80,000 acres, timbered land, open parks and meadows, river drainage and peaks above timberline. The elevation ranges from 7,500 to 12,300 feet.

Our Camps

We provide you with a wilderness experience. Our elk hunting camps Colorado include a main cooking and socializing tent as well as several sleeping tents. These tents combine a rugged outdoor experience with some creature comforts for the perfect blend of the outdoors and home. Our cooks make sure you always have home cooked meals and our camp hands take care of the rest of the chores.

Our main camp is located in the heart of the elk and deer hunting country, on the East Fork of the Troublesome Creek, It is a five to six mile horseback ride from the trailhead off route 125, and twenty-five miles north/north west of Granby, Colorado.

The main camp is nestled into the north side of a meadow, utilizing the southern sun with the trees protecting the cam from any northerly breezes. A stone's throw from the camp is the East Fork of the Troublesome Creek where one can fish for trout. There is a 20 x 24 cooking and socializing tent with its own cold running water and electricity. There are also several 16 X 20 sleeping tents with rugs, electricity and individual sleeping mattresses on cots and wood-burning stoves.

Hunting

 

You should have a small day pack. Your personal items should be in duffel bags no longer than 36" and weighing no more than 75 pounds. This enables more efficient and balanced packing in the horse panniers. We meet our clients in Granby, Colorado.

This includes one guide per two hunters, as well as cooks, excellent meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner and beverages), riding and pack horses, saddle bags, scabbards, heated and lighted tents, cots and mattresses. Includes packing your game to your vehicle.* Minimum 5 Day Hunt

You will be provided a riding horse for travel to and from camp. We provide a fully setup camp with necessary cooking gear, cots, mattresses, lights, wood burners, etc.. Includes packing one animal per hunter to your vehicle.*

Cow Elk and Mule Deer Applications Must be in by April. (Upon request, I'll send you an application when it is available.)
