Subspecies
  • Rocky Mountain Elk

To find the big bulls you must go where the big bulls live long enough to get that way. You need to access miles upon miles of wilderness and get in the middle of it, then work your way out. You will soon find bulls that average larger scoring racks and an average increase. If they can’t see their 7th birthday I can’t see you wasting your time shooting them.

We focus primarily on elk but of course run into an occasional deer and the chances are good he will be a big one. The reason is he to will also be older than the average deer that you will see that is closer access to hunters.

We do take moose hunters also which the GMU 171 is a prime since it is where these elk began.  I was hunting it back before they even put the moose in here. For a number of years I took the best moose of the year in the outfitters association. Need I say more?

We operate under permits by Colorado State Forest/Colorado State Park, U.S. Forest Service/Routt National Forest and are licensed by the Colorado Licensing Board, State of Colorado Outfitters Licensed. We are bonded and insured and an equal opportunity service provider.

Moose Hunts

A BULL MOOSE TAG IS A ONCE IN A LIFETIME TAG !

In March of 1978, 12 moose were released into North Park and another 12 were added in January of 1979. The herd has thrived over the next 30 plus years. The first moose hunt was in 1985. We started guiding moose hunts that year and have continued to have a very high success rate throughout the years.

We have guided moose hunts in units 171 and 6 with 171 preferred of the two slightly. We pack into these units on guided hunts or if you are a DIY hunter we will pack you into these plus 161 depending on the area your tag is good for the moose hunt.

Our guided hunt, hunter ratio is 1/1 (although the whole crew is out scouting pre-season). Horseback travel may be necessary to get into the back country

7 Day Bull Moose Hunt $4,495

7 Day Cow Moose Hunt $1,745
