Big Game
This Outfitter offers a limited number of quality whitetail buck hunts on over 22,500 acres. Habitat includes timbered river bottoms, sand age grasslands, shimmery oak grasslands, and open mixed grass prairie. You will be hunting Whitetail Deer, Coyotes, Deer, Dove, Predator, Quail, and Rabbit.
We manage for quality whitetails through a selective harvest plan that encourages the harvest of older-age class animals. Each hunt also allows the hunter to take an antlerless deer at no additional cost. Our antlerless harvest plan is a key component of overall herd and antler quality. You can hunt from our ground blinds, tree stands, or box blinds located in areas of peak deer activity. If you prefer, you can use your personal tree stands and blinds. We are very flexible. With limited hunts booked each year, you will have literally hundreds of acres to yourself without the worry of seeing other hunters in your hunt area!
We understand a key component of a quality hunt is minimal deer disturbance by hunter activity. If you hunt the “big boys” you know it doesn’t take much pressure for them to start doing the nocturnal thing. We like to keep them active during hunting hours!
Our ranches have had limited deer hunting pressure, so if you are looking for a quality hunting experience, this is the place.
Hunting Turkey
We offer a unique array of Rio Grand turkey hunting opportunities. We book a limited number of Spring Turkey Hunts on each of our ranches. Our spring turkey hunting success rate is high and adult tom’s average in the 20 pound class with beards from 8 to 10 inches. We did take a 21 pound tom last spring!
You can hunt with our guides or go at it alone! Hunters will be placed in areas of peak turkey activity. Most turkey hunters love to get at it early, listen to the gobblers shake the leaves off the roost trees, and hopefully have the birds in full strut at 25 yards. And this all happens before breakfast!
When the hens are still with the toms early in the season, or they aren’t leaving the toms early in the morning for the egg laying and nesting ritual, we then have great luck hunting the toms mid-day or even in the afternoon.
We prefer one hunter per guide, but if you are with a buddy, co-worker, or family member, we can put two of you on one guide. This is not a problem as long as you know each other.
We love the father/son, father/daughter hunts! We will also cater to the mother/son mother/daughter hunts. An occasional husband even enjoys hunting with his wife! No experience required.
Whether you are an experienced turkey hunter on a “grand slam” or just a beginner, you will feel at home on the Hackamore...
Hunting Quail
We offer some of the best native quail habitat in all of Western Oklahoma. We hunt the woody cover of the sand age grasslands along the Beaver River to the shimmery oak Motts of the North Fork of the Red River.
Habitat includes woody cover such as sagebrush, sumac, sand plum, and shimmery oak. Native grasses include little bluestem, switch grass, big bluestem and Indian grass with scattered forbs such as ragweed, crotons and sunflower.
You can book with our experienced guides or bring your own dogs. For safety, we book a maximum of three quail hunters per guide. Our exclusive hunting ranches offer you wild bird hunting on well managed upland habitat.
If you like the sight of a brace of bird dogs locked on point and fast flying bobs bursting out of a plumb thicket, then you will enjoy what Hackamore has to offer. Enjoy wild bird hunts in a natural and relaxing environment.
