Elk are the most abundant wildlife in GMU 214 but other wildlife can frequently be seen on the ranch including, black bear, mule deer, pronghorn, grouse and coyote. The lay of the land, habitat, little pressure and the location allows us to provide world class elk hunting to those that want a true Colorado elk hunting adventure in this area. The property has a beautifully diverse landscape of spruce, aspens, sage brush, hills, ponds, native grasses and basins complimented by surrounding mountainous terrain and north facing timber for elk to roam.  The 5 day guided hunt with lodging $ 4000 reduced down to only $2995 for the first 4 hunters with deposits in.

Elk Hunting....

Colorado is the elk hunting capital of the world and with more elk than any other state you are more likely to draw a tag and see more elk while hunting in Colorado than any other place. Even better, the Ranch is situated in the heart of Colorado elk country specifically located in the northwest area of the state making the property a premier place to hunt the famous Rocky Mountain Elk. Our elk herd in this area has been migrating through this land consistently every year for a long time and our property is home to up to 500 elk during the fall migration when hunting seasons are in.

Elk hunting on the property is an unguided trespass fee hunt but the onsite ranch manager can help put you in the right area where the elk are. Hunters have been very successful every year with many nice bulls as well as lots of healthy cows. There are also lots of black bear on the property and we offer bear hunts to anyone that is interested. The bear activity peaks in the fall when the bears are frequently seen feeding around the property getting ready for winter. Other Colorado game is frequently seen while hunting such as mule deer, pronghorn and grouse.

For comfortable lodging there are several great hotels in Steamboat Springs only 20 minutes away.

Rifle Hunting...

1st Season: October 13 - 17

2nd Season: October 20 - 28

3rd Season: November 3 - 11

4th Season: November 14 - 18

Rifle hunting is divided into four seasons in October and November. All seasons offer excellent elk hunting but please contact us to discuss dates as there are some times that are preferred when the elk are at their peak numbers on the ranch and these dates fill up faster than others. The fall weather starts to turn into winter conditions in November and the hunting during this time of year is beautiful with first good snow falls usually seen during the middle of rifle season. Tags are available every season thanks to private land only tags but some are depleted faster than others so please contact us for more information.

Archery Hunting...

August 25 - September 23

September is well known in elk country as the rut and it is when the elk are heard bugling everywhere they live. This is arguably the most exciting time to be in the woods chasing elk. Nearly all archery elk hunters primarily hunt bull elk during this time of year in hopes to call a bugling bull into shooting range. If you archery hunt you should strongly consider elk hunting with a bow. The Ranch is particularly well setup for archery hunting with lots of prime spots to call bulls in during this time of year.

Muzzleloader Hunting...

September 8 - 16

Muzzleloader season is known as the “local’s secret.” This season last only one week a year and can be very rewarding if you know how to handle a muzzleloader. The elk are in pre rut and you are able to increase your shooting range significantly over a bow using a muzzleloader. The muzzleloader tag usually takes one year of preference points to draw a tag so please contact us so we can help complete your license application. We sometimes have landowner tags for this season and those also may be available.

Black Bear Hunting....

The Ranch offers Black Bear hunting at various times throughout the year. The bear hunting is Colorado is the free ranging type because it is illegal to use bait or dogs. With the heavy oak brush the bears are there but they seldom provide a shot to the hunter.

 Deer Hunting…

There Mule deer in the area but the numbers are far fewer than the overwhelming elk herd. The habitat is better habitat for elk than deer so we don’t book deer hunts just elk hunts.
