We took 6 experienced hunters and we went on 4 hunts each over the weekend, not one of us saw a hog. Out of a total of 18 hunters two killed hogs for a kill ratio of 1/9. 16 hunters did not get a shot on a combined total of 64 hunts (4 each).
My guide Destinee was very professional, helpful and did her best to put me in a position to kill a hog, I just don't believe there are many hogs on this property. This property is honest when they say they are a whitetail deer / bird outfit we saw several deer and many turkeys. Tony was not my guide but he was helpful and professional. The other guide (we will just call him Guide C) was a jerk.
Many of the stands are in disrepair.
Base camp is nice. Great fishing lake, dining hall, and bar area.
I have hunted several places for Hogs & Deer, this by far was my best experience ever doing a hog hunt. Went out 3 times saw hogs each time. I was looking for a nice sausage hog which I was able to harvest. The guides were all professional and knowledgeable. The rooms are great and the food is the best if you like true southern cooking. Ms. Ginger the office manager is the greatest, she will answer any questions you may have. They are about family. If you want a place you can go alone or with your family this is a place to check out. You won't be disappointed.
I just came back from my hog hunt at GSO.
What a joke. Half of my hunts had me sitting in a metal folding chair with a few cups of corn scattered on the ground. Their scouting technique is riding around in their vehicles to see if corn is gone. They mustn't have ever heard of raccoons.
I saw one doe. Not a single hog.
We had 18 hunters.I know of 2 that got a hog. That's 18 hunters x4hunts each=72 hunts=2hogs.
By my standards that is a ripoff. I will never return, recommend or want to relive the experience.
Huge waste of time and money. The only thing enjoyable was meeting other hunters from all around.
We hunted hogs with Great Southern Outdoors and had a great time. The accommodations and staff were great. We got a couple nice hogs, didn't see anything real big. Overall it was a great time!
Great Southern Outdoors is the place to be whether you are looking to hunt deer, turkeys, hogs, or even partake in a quail hunt. Great Southern Outdoors is located in the heart of Bullock County, Alabama, which has a rich history of producing trophy sized game. Rex Pritchett and his staff are very knowledgeable, courteous, and professional, and they truly care about the customer having a remarkable time during the stay. During my turkey hunt, I was guided by Rex's son, Hunter Pritchett, who has a vast knowledge of the outdoors and was very courteous to me during my hunt. Our hunt was limited from a weekend storm rolling through Alabama; however, Great Southern Outdoors has ample opportunity to harvest any game you desire. The kitchen staff is fantastic and will have you asking for second helpings. The grounds are kept well maintenanced and the rooms are spot-on clean. I will definitely be going back, thank you Great Southern Outdoors!
