Powderhorn Taxidermy
Powderhorn Taxidermy is nestled in a long secluded wooded valley in northeastern Oklahoma (near Vinita). I am 37 years old and have over 17 years of taxidermy experience. My experience started as an apprentice for a number of years with a well-known taxidermist at Trails End Taxidermy. Trails End Taxidermy is now known as Trails End Deer Farm. I continue to search for and pioneer new techniques that produce the highest possible quality of mount. Technology continues to provide numerous products and tactics that result in more life like mounts. My wife Shanda and I live on 40 acres of heavily wooded land that contains a number of natural springs and creeks. This setting provides ample opportunity to view a multitude of animals in their natural setting.
Our goal at Powderhorn Taxidermy is aimed at pleasing the customer more than the taxidermy judge. We want your trophy to look like the day it walked out of the brush thicket approaching your stand instead of as if it just walked out of an intense weight lifting session. We have several whitetail deer in captivity including bloodline from Big Jake behind our house that I often study to create the most life like mount as possible. In addition, I utilize a very extensive collection of wildlife reference photos that I have acquired over the years.
A normal day starts off with a shop walk through making adjustments on lips, eyes, and ears to prepare to get started on another mount. I try to mount at least one animal per day to ensure a quick turnaround and return business. We do not agree with Taxidermist that delay their work and do not return the finished mount to the customer in a timely manner. I have had great success, received numerous compliments, and developed strong return customer base by getting the life like mounts back to the customer in a short period of time. If you are looking for an affordable high quality life like mount that will not take a year to get into your living room or den where it belongs, give Powderhorn Taxidermy a try. We look forward to hearing from you.
