October fishing is here! Water temperatures are rapidly dropping; most boats are off the water; fall colors will likely be peaking by Columbus Day, but what about the fishing? I'm looking forward to great lake trout jigging on Keuka and hopefully Owasco Lakes. Smallmouth bass fishing should also be promising on most of the Finger Lakes. Early November brings fishing for big pike on Cayuga Lake. Late October through mid-November provide PEAK mixed bag fishing on Skaneateles Lake! We may be trying some casting on Lake Ontario for large brown trout. Tiger muskies on Otisco Lake too. If water temps keep dropping and get into the upper 40s, early November should be the start of some good to excellent Landlocked Salmon fishing on the fly!
