TAKE A KID HUNTING ON A $5 DEER OR TURKEY LICENSE!!

A (DIY) “Do It Yourself “Archery & Muzzleloader Hunts in the prime Frenchman Unit of Nebraska

the Oasis in the  South Western corner of Nebraska. This is about 10 miles from Benkelman Nebraska, 15 miles from the Kansas state line and about 30 minutes from the Colorado state line and a little further to Wray Colorado. This is premium hunting property with water, feed, and cover year around.

You will see whitetail and occasionally a mule deer. This is a whitetail only hunting area. Licenses for archery and muzzleloader are available over the counter and unlimited. There is no rifle hunting on the property to provide an ideal situation for primitive hunting weapons. Nebraska’s muzzleloader definition includes the use of a scope on the muzzleloader. See regulations for full details.

Season dates are as follows:

Archery Deer season is September 15 to December 31st.

Muzzleloader Deer Season is December 1st- December 31st.

Archery Turkey Season is March 25th to May 31st.

Shotgun Turkey is April 14th to May 31st.

Youth licenses are only $ 5 for Turkey or Deer

Adult Deer License is $ 209 plus $ 10 habitat stamp

Adult Turkey is $ 100 plus $ 10 habitat stamp.

Only 1 habitat stamp is required per year.

This ranch is an oasis along the Republican River with its consistent water flow. Neighbors have removed their good wildlife habitat while this outfitter has even enhanced his knowing how important it is for wildlife, With 2500 acres and having 1 mile of the Republican River running right through it you can see why we call this and oasis. The property contains a great population (about 300) turkey for spring hunting. There are whitetail and mule deer on the property.  Because of the Frenchman units choice to not provide any rifle Mule deer tags there may be some leniency with archery and muzzleloader. With the muzzleloader season being all of the month of December and Archery being from September 15-December 31st the schedules options are many but the number of hunters per year will be minimal. There are7 Double ladder tree stands, 8 single ladder stands, 3 archery stands installed on the property and 7 ground blinds. You are welcome to bring your own ground blinds but all above the ground stands the hunter must wear a safety harness. You have been warned we take no liability in tree stands use them at your own risk.

Lodging

The closest Lodging is the Circle B in the town of Benkelman about 10 miles to the east as an option. Restaurants are also in Benkelman. There is self-contained camping allowed on the property but no water or electrical is available. The landowner will meet you at the property and provide you with a map of the2500 acres of hunting ground. With the map you will be given permission slip to be on the property if stopped by the Nebraska Game and fish or the Sheriff.

The hunts are 5 days or until you fill your license whichever comes first.

If anything illegal activity occurs while you are hunting your whole party will be asked to leave and to not comeback even if they did not fill their license.

All deposits of 50% are to be made prior to the hunt.

The owner will either be in the area or you will have his cell phone for contact.

If you shoot and wound a deer, and it goes onto property that you are not authorized contact the landowner and he will contact the landowners to help you come look for it. Do not go over the fence to get it without contacting the landowner or they may turn you into the Nebraska Game and Fish for trespassing. There are 2500 acres here to hunt plenty to shoot a deer and have it stop on the property.

Deer hunting for Whitetail archery or Muzzleloader is $ 995 per hunter. Currently we are not shooting mule deer as recommended by the Nebraska game and fish, just whitetail.

Spring Turkey is a 3 day hunt at $ 350 for the first turkey and $ 150 if you plan to take a second Turkey.

Licensing Detail:

This is in the special Mule Deer Conservation area.

The mule deer buck tag is available for 12 hours over the internet when the draw begins at 1PM Central time on July 7 usually(An update is available in June on the exact time and date). This is a good license because you can shoot a Mule Deer Buck, a whitetail buck, or a whitetail Doe on that license.

When they run out you can get a whitetail buck license which is good for a whitetail buck or doe. They are usually available for days after the draw begins. I recommend that you get the Mule deer Buck license so that you can shoot either a mule deer or a whitetail buck that you see. More details on this can be found on the Nebraska Game & Parks Office.
