Upland Game

Species

Here are some great camps, home cooked meals, warm comfortable beds, hot showers, and above all, country that holds awesome trophy game animals. The Gila (pronounced Heelah) Forest is known for monster elk along with the connecting Apache and Cibola Forests.  These forests are where the elk grow to legendary status known as the Gila Monsters for the last 20+ years. I will do my absolute best to get you a shot at the trophies that roam in the beautiful canyons and hills. Some of the country is rugged and has so much history you can feel it in the calm when you sit on the hillsides over looking breath taking views, imagining how the Indians and mountain men traveled and hunted in this vast country all the while watching some awesome game roaming the valley below.

Being in the outdoors you will not just experience the beauty and excitement of the hunt, you will also experience the closeness you can feel to our creator!

If you are looking for a plush lodge hunt then you need to keep looking, but if you want a great quality hunting experience then this is for you.

This is hunting and stalking South West New Mexico’s Elk, Deer (Coues' & Mule), and Bear, Antelope and even the lonesome Coyote or Prairie dog.  Southwestern style Cougar hunts (dry ground & horseback) are my passion.

I hunt each of you at your physical capabilities, you want to stalk we stalk, you want to sit trails or water holes then that is what we do, if the animals are vocal then we get vocal. We hunt on foot, horses, ATV’s and by 4 wheels drive vehicle. Bring a good pair of binoculars and possibly even a spotting scope depending on the game you are hunting.

I feel privileged to offer physically disabled (handicap) hunts. I offer my Veterans a 5% discount on their hunts to try and show my appreciation for what they offered our beloved country so we can have the freedom to hunt and live in this beautiful country of the USA.

I enjoy having families come to hunt together. It is a treat to see children get to experience the hunt outside of a class room and in real nature.  Ladies you are more than welcome to hunt or come as a non-hunter. You can relax with me knowing that I have the same outdoor issues you do, but have overcome them. I will make you as comfortable as I can in the hunting camps.

I make sure your game animal is capped, removed from the woods and transported to a meat cutter (if you wish). Taxidermy and meat processing is the hunters responsibility.

In the past we have had years that, we got 11 bulls out of 16 hunters on the ground scoring from 373 down to 300+.  Because of the difficult draw if you don’t have landowner tags the harvest of mature bulls is heavily managed providing us with a much larger than average animals.

We hunt spot and stalk or blinds depending on what works best for the animal in the area we are pursuing.

The best dates to hunt of course depend on when the hunting season is available and which animal we are hunting.

I hunt all day, eat lunch under a tree, I do scouting all year and know my animals. Like to have fun but take it all very serious for my hunters to be successful. I do not have a fancy lodge but good camps. I'm about the hunt!
