Here is a outfitter that not only provides hunting but fishing also. They live and operate a working ranch year-round on the hunting property. They also own a small excavation business that does custom work for the surrounding community from the ranch headquarters. They only take small groups so that they can make certain you enjoy your hunt.

The Property:

You will be hunting 2300 acres of private land located in GMU’S 12 and 231. The White River Elk herd the largest herd in Colorado calls this area home. More specifically in the Williams Fork Valley a half mile from the Dunkley Flat tops, one mile from the Beaver Flat Tops. W are 35 miles south east of Craig, 18 miles south of Hayden and 25 miles from Trappers Lake. Elevations range from 7000 feet to 8100 feet. The terrain is made up of a variety of aspens, scrub oak, pine groves and grassy parks. And yes, a river runs through it- the Williams Fork River. Although even more important the deer and elk run through it also.

Hunting and Fishing:

Our guided hunts start after a family style breakfast long before daylight. You can take a sack lunch and hunt all day if you like. Or come back, take a break and relax in the cabin. Walk just 100 yards from your cabin to the Williams Fork River to fly fish for native cutthroats and cut bows. Or try one of our ponds. Later return for your evening elk hunt.

We prefer a group of friends for each season.

Hunting Tips

So come enjoy a hunt that has been personalized for you. Watch a cow elk eating acorns on an early frosty morning; strategize on how to take your trophy bull; take time out to fish for trout. You can’t surpass Colorado in the fall. When you look down the Williams Fork Valley from a mountain top, it looks almost as it did 100 years ago. Discover the Knife Blade, where Pine Pocket is, walk down Porcupine Ridge. Step back in time, back to the old West.  Come hunt where we live.

Our hunts focus on where the deer or elk are moving. Since we are adjacent to the flattops there is always elk movement. Sight in for elk on a 100 yard target about to inches high which will likely put you dead on at 200 yards. Most of your shots will be 100 to 300 yards. If you can practice shooting at 300 yards it will help you shoot better at any yardage. This is the best way to make the 90% opportunity into 100% success! The guide can put elk in front of you but if you can’t shoot well enough it will do no good.

Most of our hunts are 5 day hunts for Bull elk.

The 5 day hunt with meals and lodging is only $2995

We can shoot deer but in all fairness this is prime elk country and it is difficult to find primed deer and prime elk county at the same location because their eating and living patterns
