With more than 40 years of whitetail deer hunting experience in the South Carolina Low Country by owner Pete Simmons, we ensure every guest at Buck Run will have a very high quality hunt. At Buck Run we know that each of our guests are here for one basic reason: to harvest game and enjoy themselves doing it! Every effort is put forth to increase our guests success in doing just that. Careful prehunt planning and preparation on our 8,000 acres of deer hunting properties is all part of the daily routine at Buck Run. Hunter satisfaction is of utmost importance to us. To ensure the personal touch, all deer hunts at Buck Run are personally guided and limited to a maximum of thirteen (13) persons each hunting period. For unguided hunt information see section on our satelitte Five Points Lodge. Ideal for the husband/wife, father/son, entire family, church or civic groups, small business or corporate executive, we cater to the individual need of each of our guests. Exclusive family hunts are our specialty! In general, all deer hunting at Buck Run is done from elevated stands or tower blinds from heights of 12 to 24 feet. All stands are strategically located over natural food plots and agricultural fields of soybeans/peas, wheat/rye and corn, or in prime hardwood flats and bottoms where deer frequently feed, scrape and rub. Shots generally range from 30 - 75 yards in wooded areas and up to 300 yards on agricultural fields. Rifles of .243 minimum caliber are required and should be zeroed at 100 yards. After arrival and before any hunting activity takes place, each guest will be required to check his rifle zero at our sight range! Even though temperatures in late August and early September are quite warm, hunters have an excellent opportunity to bag velvet-antlered deer of all sizes, many in the trophy class. Traditionally, the opening of deer season on August 15th annually offers tremendous whitetail deer hunting when deer activity is at one of the highest levels of the year. During this time of year, whitetail bucks are known to travel and feed in groups of two or more. Sightings of 8 -10 together are not uncommon. All rates include the following: complete guide service and field transportation, game cooling, game packing for return trip home (bring your own coolers), lodging, meals and great fellowship and hospitality. All you need to bring is your clothes, gun and personal items; we will furnish the rest, including linens, towels, and soap. Personal items we suggest you bring include: insect repellent, flashlight, two pair of boots (1 rubber - 1 standard), rain gear, camera, toiletries, light clothes (August-October), heavier clothes (November-December), (no orange required), and rifle(s) of .243 caliber or larger, scoped with a high quality 50mm objective lens and zeroed at 100 yards.
