Elk Hunting in Colorado with us

Semi-guided horse pack in tent camp hunt for bull or cow and deer for only $2495

Most of the outfitters in this region bring hunters into the draws that lead into Colorado’s Flat Tops Wilderness, GMU025 because it requires less time and effort. But some of the most beautiful and abundant elk habitat is on the plateau. We concentrates on bringing their clients clear to the top when weather permits. It takes from 3 ½ to 5 hours on horseback, but it’s worth it! The harvest opportunities are great. We go the extra mile on our camp facilities as well. Great equipment and a professional staff, our guided hunters are fed by a real cook, not the guide! And the food is fresh. We deliver more than a great harvesting opportunity, we deliver a great experience.

Now as the owner I feel it prudent to warn hunters. Elk hunting in the mountains is one of the most physically demanding hunts in North America? Even though our Flat Tops are about as hunter friendly terrain that elk inhabit, it is the real thing! You really need to ask yourself, am I in decent shape? Do I have handicaps that will make this hunt miserable for me? Am I still tough enough to rough it, and enjoy it? These questions are valid ones because you will be riding horses for several hours just to get to your hunt camp. You will be sleeping on a cot in a sleeping bag. And even though we provide sleeping pads and a pillow, it’s still a cot. It will be cold at night when the wood stove goes out in the still of the night, and when the cold of mornings predawn wakeup alarm goes off. You’ll be hunting at 10,000 to 11,000 feet elevation, and that makes everything physically harder. You’ll be getting up early and going to bed late. Eating fast, before the food cools off in the cool of the tent.

If I haven’t run you off yet, let me say this; if you are healthy enough to enjoy this, it is really a trip of a lifetime. There’s no other hunt I enjoy quite as much as riding my favorite stead into a wilderness camp with a few good friends and hunting out of wall tents. There is that camaraderie around the dinner table at night, the morning boot crunching trek to a great spot to sit, the anticipation of a big bull to stepping out into a clearing. The silence of nature while you sit in your blind waiting and watching and being away from the crowds of crazy hunters and their 4-wheelers. Wilderness hunting is like no other!

If you have what it takes, come join us for a wilderness elk hunt!

Our Semi-guided hunts allow the hunters that have hunted elk before and the ones that have not be put together be packed into prime elk country, with 1 guide per camp. Food is supplied but you cook your own meals. Radios check in each even and advise if anything is needed or anything needs to be packed out. In some camps radios have poor reception so a wrangler comes to camp every 2 days to pack in anything that is needed and pack out any game that has been taken. There are deer in the area and they can be added at no charge except for a Colorado deer License.  The area is 90% elk and 10% deer so they aren’t real common like the elk are.

License Drawing for the 1st season is a 99% success with 0 points. The second season is bull over the counter along with archery for private and public land and muzzleloader takes two points to draw.
