Elk and Deer DIY with Cabin on Prime Elk property for a DIY hunt north of Craig Colorado in the states Famous Elk Bowl. DIY Access on Private & Public Land plus cabin Lodging for only $995 per person in a party of 4! You can hunt deer and or elk it is all the same lodging price. If you have 3 hunters it is still a total of $ 3980. With 3 people that comes out to only   $ 1326 each.

This is the perfect beginning of a 3-4 hunter DIY hunt on 160 private and 600,000 public acres in GMU004 17 miles north of Craig Colorado. A very positive point on the public areas it is extremely difficult for a hunter hunting public land to get to the public land because it would require a 5 mile hike up hill to get to your location. This cabin will take a maximum of 4 hunters for only $3995 which comes out to under $995 per person for a DIY with a cabin in private acres adjacent to public acres. There is a road directly to the cabin but in bad weather the road can get pretty sloppy and snowy so a 4 wheel drive is recommended, and 4 wheelers are good to bring for that and for getting game out. You can hunt on the 4 wheelers but the game is not used to the motor noise and quickly leaves the area. Technically you will need a 15 ORV permit to go on the national forest with the 4 wheeler but not on the private property. They can be gotten at the park headquarters by Hayden.

The property was split off of an adjacent Ranching for wild life ranch that takes premium animals every year. This is a deer and or elk hunt with licenses over the counter for elk for the 2nd and 3rd seasons. It is availability except for booked dates, during Archery, Muzzleloader, 1st rifle, second rifle, 3rd rifle 4th rifle and late cow season using all of the Colorado Division of Wildlife rules. This is a great place to go year after year for great Colorado deer and elk hunting. The private property is directly adjacent to public property providing massive elk and deer movement at all time. There is a herd of deer and elk that are local to this area year around. There are also many, many herds that migrate through this area to their wintering grounds. Many of the migrate don’t go all the way down to their wintering grounds but hang in this area all winter because of the abundance of winter feed, thermo cover and water if there is not sufficient snowfall.

You will be able to drive directly to your cabin and park in front of it. Depending on the weather conditions providing snow or mud it can require 4 wheel drive because of the uphill drive.

The adjacent Ranching for wildlife ranch which have guided elk or deer hunts for over hundreds of acres of Pastures with fingers of cover are the roads that the deer and elk travel to get to the hayfields. The owner will meet you and take you to the cabin. He will provide you with a map of the property fences and point out some good travel corridors.

The hunts are 5 day hunts if the season you select allows.

It is one hour from Steamboat Springs Ski Area and 45 minutes from Hayden Airport which has jet flights by major carriers.

Roughly 1/3 of all elk taken in Colorado occurs in the northwest area of the state and this property is in the heart of it. The town of Craig is the prime center of the highest elk density area of the state.  The area is an over the counter elk area but deer are on a draw only basis and may or may not have left over’s each year.
