Put your DIY Combo Hunting feet down on 3,000 acres 4.5 mile squares in Northwest Colorado of deer, antelope and elk infested private property. The ranch is comprised of sagebrush, oak brush, and over 500 acres in Dryland alfalfa gold. Also you will be hunting through the meandering hills of the Yampa Valley northwest of Hayden, Colorado, and ten miles from the Hayden regional airport, the ranch is an easy thirty minute drive from the world class skiing and recreation of Steamboat, Springs. The Yampa River winds gently past the property marking the southern boundary of the ranch and makes for 3/4 of a mile of uninterrupted river frontage. Because this is a working cattle ranch we have added numerous water tanks, or ponds to hold water for the cattle and wildlife. In this dry country water is gold, but a mixture of water, feed and cover it required for prime big game hunting and we have it. That has a lot to do with the reason this region has the highest elk density not only in Colorado but in the world.
The ranch has local and migrating herds of deer, elk and antelope depending on the time of the year you are hunting. This area is known for its record class antelope that are taken every year by the limited number of hunters that we allow for antelope hunting.
You are in the home of the second largest elk herd in the country, the Bears Ear Herd, and large herds of mule deer and pronghorn antelope. Hunters have enjoyed a quality experience and high success rates for years and we continue to in this prime 3000 acres honey hole. Please take a look at the photo gallery. Fishing rights to a 3/4 mile stretch of the Yampa are included. The ranch house is also available to rent. Please click on the link for hunting seasons, fees, and availability. The ranch is located in GMU441 between Hayden and Craig, Colorado, north of Highway 40.
3rd season combo deer/elk- needing a group of 4-6 folks fee is $1495 a person, bull elk tags are Over the Counter and draw odds are about 65% on deer licenses without any points, 100% draw odds with 1 point.
4th season elk-still waiting to hear back on this one, but if interested let me know, $1495, looking for at least 4 hunters.
Late season cow hunt- the season runs all of December, the cost is only $495 for a three day hunt, will offer 1/2 price youth hunts with two adult hunters.
Antelope- We should get some Land owner vouchers for this year. Cost will be $1350 for voucher plus trespass. We will know in June if we have vouchers when the results come out. If you have drawn or can draw an antelope license for this unit that will work also. It requires a certain number of points to draw.
Lodging is $35 a night a head in the house if interested or camp for free. It has been an extremely mild winter so the animals should be good shape. Applications for tags are due by April 3. Applications for your Elk, Deer and Antelope licenses are the first week in April.
