Canada Black Bear Hunts, Ontario

Welcome to your 7 day hunt in Ontario’s Bruin County.  With a 7 day hunt providing 99.9% success this outfitter knows how to find the bears even without a spring and only a fall season. In addition all those days for only $ 1600 which is only about $225 per day for lodging, meals, a guide and stands. Tom Bodet with his Motel 6 can’t beat that and you get a Good bear on top of that.

With your fall bear running between 150 LBS -- 525 LBS as in the past with a un-rubbed fall hide these bears are big, fat and full, ready to look for a place to sleep of the winter and their hides are prime. The problem of shooting a bear that has rubbed his hide as you do in the spring is non-extent in the fall. They are carefully grooming and pampering their hide it is the only thing between them and the winter cold to come during hibernation.

The hunt has a mild to medium exertion level related to possibly climbing into a tree stand or possibly a ground blind if the height isn’t your cup of tea.

All lands hunted will be private and covers about 350 square miles.

The best time to catch these bears is the first 2 weeks in September when they are in their prime.

We are a small personal scale operation that can supply top quality service and high success rates with guaranteed active baits. You are the only hunter to hunt over that bait that year in this high black bear population area. At this time the bears are gorging themselves because soon the weather will cool, feed will disappear and that will trigger hibernation. It is not unusually for a bear to hunt and gather food 20 hours a day so good bait in a good location is to bring bear like moths to a flame.

LICENSING

For the ease of licensing Non-Resident license and Outdoors card are purchased by hunter upon arrival in Ontario. We supply further licensing. No draw required for bear.

TRANSPORTATION

Hunters will fly into Pearson International Airport in Toronto, Ontario. The primary air carrier is Air Canada. AirPort pickup and transportation to the lodge and be discussed.

Transporting meat/trophies is best if the clients bring a cooler to be packed with ice/hides/meat.

If you bring a non-hunting observer they are no problems just a $300 charge for the meals and lodging. We have no minimum or maximum party size we just want everyone to have a good time. 

 Note this is a 7 day trip but one day is consumed traveling in and one day traveling out.

PERMITS REQUIRED

You will need an easy to obtain firearm permit to bring a rifle into Canada. There is no permit required on Bows, and Pistols are not allowed. We can send you all of the documentation to have pre-filled out when you get to the boarder to expedite that stop.

We can also assist you with a  export Permit for hides and meat to be taken Home, unless you are able to bag then frozen and take them home as luggage which can be simpler( The mouth must be accusable so a small back tooth can be removed to age the bear at the border. For those leaving North America a Cites Permit for hides and meat taken home is required and we can assist with that also. It is best if we get that processed before your hunt and it can take 4-6 weeks to complete.

 CAMP /FACILITIES

Base Camp where we hunt out of / prepare hides/field dress game Clients stay in fully modernized water front homes with hot showers. You will need a sleeping bag and if you would like to bring your own motor home it is quite acceptable. Normally we do not supply meals but they can be added with a small charge if the group prefers.

HUNT TRANSPORTATION

Our hunting transportation includes 4x4 trucks, ATV and a little walking in some cases. If you have your own ATV feel free to bring it.

Our experienced Guides by both, owners with more than 20 years experience Black Bear Hunting know what it takes to bring in good black bear, but remember that can do everything perfect but the accuracy of the shot is your responsibility, so please practice before the hunt. A 3x9 wide field or light gathering scope on a 270 or larger rifle and a 150 grain bullet or larger is the best. You can’t “over kill” a bear. The more likely you can drop him in his tracks the more likely we won’t be chasing a wounded bear in the night.

Game retrieval and skinning will be done by the guides. Meat processing is available through a local butcher at an additional cost.
